Smed doubted that Megan noticed he was working at Sid's. Of course, he knew she hoped no one knew her. So he'd kept it at a distance. He'd heard a snicker or two. He knew what a few were thinking. They could hardly wait to get to know her. Which meant, either getting her high, or drunk, or both and hoping this lead to some good fucking. Care less. No doubt.
Who cared about anything else?
He'd seen it happen. Maybe some deserved it, or were looking for the same thing. He tried not to think about it. He certainly wouldn't try anything with her. She was definitely out of any of their league. But this seemed so unreal. Someone like her working here. What was her story? Something bad must have happened. He'd never seen her work any place else. And he'd made the rounds in fast food. Naturally, he'd never stayed that long at any of them. He moved on when he couldn't stand it any longer. Of course, he wished he hadn't been so quick to change his mind about employment. These days, you were lucky to have a job so he was hanging on to this one.
"We better do something quick." He'd over heard a co-worker joke about Megan. "I don't think she'll last til June. She'll be long gone by then."
"Yeah, probably has a vacation somewhere, anyway. With that boyfriend of hers. Just like Miley Cyrus and that new guy she's in that movie with." Someone else laughed.
"Ugh, don't make me gag." Another snide remark.
Smed just smiled. Megan was no Miley Cyrus. Thank God.
