Caitlin was trying to forget the kiss. With Zeke. Maybe she liked it. Maybe she didn't. Really, she didn't have time to think about it. After all, she had this job now. And well, she spent more time with Derrick than she thought she would.
After all, he had to show her the ropes. How to make coffee drinks. How to make shakes. Nothing was major with the cash flow. A dollar for this. For that. It was cool. It was just the lounge. A sigh of relief. Perhaps.
"So you like it?" Derrick was all smiles and had a way of just being there when she thought he'd be doing something else.
"Yeah, its great." Naturally, she hadn't seen Zeke around once. It bothered her that he never came to the lounge when she worked. They still ate breakfast and lunch together. Quietly. But supper was out now because she was in the lounge then. And she missed him. Although, she wouldn't dare say she did. Instead, she focused on being the best person for this job at the lounge. She made sure to get in what studying she had to do before 3 and usually, didn't go back to the studying until after 10. And of course, getting in the run. But she didn't do that every night now.
"Um, I was wondering if you'd want to go to a midnight showing of A FACE IN THE CROWD with me?" Derrick smiled as if they were a couple, already. "Its Andy Griffith, but he's amazing in it. You know, its a classic that no one ever got to watch when it came out because of the writer and director were black listed."
"Oh." She was dazzled by his smile. Sometimes, he could just talk up a storm to her. And then nothing. She had to wonder what it would be like at the movie. Nonstop talking or nothing. She guessed she'd have to see. "Sure."
"Really?" His grin was open then. She thought he was going to kiss her, but instead he touched the top of her head with his hand. He rubbed her head as if she were a puppy of some kind. Caitlin wasn't sure what she thought of that.
