Mia was quite the talker. Zeke had never listened so much about her life. Why did he ever want to go out with her in the first place? Oh, yeah, he needed to forget about Caitlin.
Of course, all the while he was sad. In a sad state. He was thinking what was she doing with Derrick. What had they done. What would they do. It made him sick. And he knew this was no time to be sick while out with a Jennifer Love-Hewitt type. You couldn't get much better than this? Right?
But she talked about her Greek boyfriend. The guy she met in the Virgin Islands.
"I met a virgin in the Virgin Islands." He kne where that tale was going. God, he wanted some new material to have to sit and listen too. Maybe she wasn't exactly as hot as she was cracked up to be. But Zeke kept smiling. They had gone out for pizza and ended up back at her place. A studio apartment in an old building downtown. It was stuffy and he was already in a sweat. Really, he didn't feel like enduring anymore of this.
"You like Asian, don't you?" She was all smiles. He did love her smile.
"Uh?" He wondered if this was a trick question. "Yes. Yes I do." He was setting there on the couch with her listening to some music from a Cambodian lounge singer. He felt as if he might be in a sushi bar, already. "But I'm, you know, tired." He sighed. "I better go."
She got out some white wine with some glasses.
"You don't have to go yet." She poured him some wine. He guess he'd have to stay. It might help with the ungodly long stories that went no where. Did she do this with everyone she went out with? Talk about old lovers. Nonstop.
So she started up about her trip to Italy and how sexy the men were. Zeke couldn't take much more. He thought he fell asleep with the drink in his hand. He knew he nodded off. This had to be the worst date ever.
