"What's wrong?" Caitlin looked at Zeke.
"Nothing." Zeke gave her a weak smile. "Is Derrick coming?"
"No, he had this thing." Caitlin shrugged. "He had to go out of town. Last minute."
Zeke, nodded, that was a relief. Thankfully, he didn't have to deal with him.
There, he was back to staring at Smed, hoping it wasn't him. Actually, he'd never really got a good look at him. It wasn't like they could have gone out and kicked a soccer ball around, or anything. It was just weird. He felt like the odd ball out because ....after all he was the one who had lived with the dangerous man, that no one knew could do something like that.... on a lunch hour and then go to a grocery store parking lot and drink a six pack a beer as if he had nothing else better to do.
It was something Zeke wanted to forget about. And some days he didn't think about it. Then he felt guilty about not thinking about it. But it wasn't like a tattoo he wore saying "Son of a Murderer."
"This is Zeke." Caitlin introduce him to Smed, who hesistated, but finally managed to shake his hand.
"OH MY GOD!" Megan got in on this now. She and that big fat smile of hers. "You two could be brothers!"
