Smed stood back and looked at the color of the room. It was a sky blue. Peaceful. It hadn't taken long to get the room done. There was just one window to worry about and Megan had covered it in a white sheet. June and Nora gave them an old bed. It was kind of lumpy and regular sized. The iron head board was nostalgic and a bit romantic. Smed had repainted it white.
June and Nora had helped them so much. He wasn't sure he could ever repay them enough. As it was he was in limbo about so many things. Especially, Megan who was now all Miss Congenial and wouldn't dare leave his side. It was as if she was too scared too. And she was making over him as if he were her child now.
He didn't know what to believe.
"Its beautiful." She told him and her hands fell around his chest and she hugged him up so tight from behind and rested her head on his shoulder. Just then his cell buzzed. It was the college. He got good news. It worked out. They were going to pay for his classes and his books. All he had to do was report to work tomorrow.
Smed almost fell over. He wasn't sure if it was the excitement or exhaustion. He thought he might pass out. This was really happening. He was on his own now. Almost. Smed bit his bottom lip. There was still Megan to deal with. Why did love have to be such a topsy turvey thing?
