"You don't think it looks too green, do you? Like an olive?" Caitlin looked over at Zeke as she studied the wall of their room. It was across the hall from Smed and Megan's. They were neighbors now. Well, kind of.
"I have no idea what you're seeing." Zeke squinted. Was he color blind? "I just see a more beige brown." It was a safe color. They said down at Lowe's it was an "in" color. They still didn't have a bed. He wanted them to get a good one. He already accepted the fact that Caitlin really liked having her side of the bed. So they had to get a big one. Queen sized. Hopefully, he could manage that. But of course, she wanted to pay half of it. They were pretty much mute on the subject.
They had managed a small table they could use for their laptops and hopefully, the closet was big enough. As it was, they'd stuffed it with their things. Hopefully, they'd get organized. But they'd spent some time already applying online to different places to work. Maybe her parents wouldn't take the blow so hard if she told them she was working. Of course, he wasn't even thinking of his own mother and how she might feel about him deciding to move out of the dorm.
Just then he got a call from his Mom on his cell.
"We're here!" She sang as if she couldn't wait to see him.
"What?" Were his ears burning? He felt light headed, and there was no place to sit or even lean for that matter.
"Where are you?" She wanted to know.
"Uh." He squinted hard. How was he going to do this? Just spill his guts. He always did. But this was going to be quite painful.
