"I'm just saying." Smed couldn't help but glare at Megan, all the more. He'd found her at the party with Cho. "You meant to lose Sammi, didn't you?"
"No." Megan winced. "Stop saying that. I didn't. I really didn't mean too." She kept her eyes on him instead of Cho. Smed could see Cho was waiting for her to say something. Do something.
"Well, lets get out of here." He took her hand and lead the way out of this diabolical mess. It was way after midnight and people were still arriving. He'd came as soon as he got off work. Please God, let her find a job soon, he thought to himself. He didn't want to worry about Megan, but she was making it hard, not too.
"I didn't mean for any of this to happen." She told him as he made their way through the crowd to her car. He'd walked over with his id around his neck. He looked liked he might be on hospital rounds in his green scrubs. Puffs of his wavy hair looked bleak in the chilly winds that were coming in. So was a windy rain. Smed licked his dry lips.
"Just like you didn't mean to bump into Cho?" He waited for her to unlock the car-doors.
"I had no idea he'd be here." She looked at him surprised. "Really."
"How do I know, if you didn't call him up. Tell him you were free for a couple of hours." Smed gave her a shrug.
"Damn it." She got out her cell then. pulled up her contacts and showed him there was no number of Cho's.
He nursed the inside of his cheek then. Knowing this was no time to argue about her admirer. This was about Sammi. He was worried. He really didn't want anything bad to happen to her
"What do you want to do?" Smed hugged himself.
"I've tried calling." Megan told him. "Why don't you try?"
"Me?" He grabbed at her cell.
"No, your phone. If she knows its you, she'll pick up." Megan glared at him.
"How do you know that?" He winced. He did as she asked though. Sammi answered on the first ring. A smile gave way then. "Where are you?"
Sammi was laughing. She sounded drunk, but she told him she was OK. She was in someone's dormroom.
"I don't think you sound that OK." Smed tried to sound as happy as he could. He forged a smile on his face. "How about I pick you up? We could have coffee."
She laughed so hard then. "Shh...don't tell Megan."
"I won't." He gritted. "Just tell me, where you are."
