the good and the bad

Really, Smed couldn't complain. He had to be happy that he'd made it this far. He could go to class. Had his meal ticket. Even money for rent and maybe a little left over if he were careful enough. It was just the hours at work... were crap.

"That's what happens when you're the new geek." Leo, this rather geeky fellow informed him the first thirty seconds after he showed up. They had him down five to midnight.

Smed tried to think positive. Less time to be around Sammi, yet more time for Megan to find trouble. Well, that was just the way it would have to be. His life couldn't revolve around her. She had to find her own way, as it was, but he didn't have much faith in her, either. Whatever happened happened. He had to remember that. Even as he followed Leo around to monitor the different systems and video feeds. It could definitely be worse. And it hadn't gotten worse yet, he had to remember.

But it was lot to keep up with. Just to know what was expected of him. "Its not that hard," Leo finally told him. His grin was sly and Smed wasn't so sure he believed Leo, completely. But he'd wait and see and hoped the pressure of college classes wouldn't get to him.

Of course, when he got back to their room, all Megan could talk about was RUSH.

"So, are you going Greek now?" She was definitely moving out of his league.

"No, I just want to go to all the parties." She smiled.

"Well, you'll have to go without me." He explained his schedule.

"I don't guess I can get Caitlin to go. She'd never do anything like that." Megan looked as if she'd lost her best friend. She was making do on a steady diet of Cheerios and ramen top noodles. She hadn't really looked for employment yet. "But there is always Sammi." She smiled then.

"I wonder how that would work. You two together." Smed grinned. Megan kissed him. Soon enough he knew what they'd doing every day at three in the afternoon. She shucked his shirt and the rest and soon enough she was suddenly fine with his schedule, and he guessed he was too. Naturally, the afternoon quickie was finished by 3:30. Smed guessed now was as good a time as any, to tell Megan about Sammi kissing him.
