It felt like it took Sammi forever to get into the new semester. First of all, there were the snow days. And of course, it was awkward around Logan now..after the brief encounter with Noel. It had been so passionate. Something, right out of a movie..and she got the cold wake up call that Noel didn't remember any of it, and never would. It stung deep, but she was glad she'd figured it out quickly.
At least it had kept her from being put on the spot with Mia. Thankfully, she'd looked all offended that night and left before Cho could even get her out of there. That scene felt so last year as in months ago instead of last month.
It was such a weird winter break. Lots of phone calls from her Mom. She felt sure she still didn't know how hard this transition was for her Mom. The divorce. And she was certain her mother would never know what she was going through, either. And if she did, she would have just said, "Grow up, Sammi."
"So, I tried this speed dating thing, and I met someone, Sam." She was all giddy. Perhaps a little too happy for Sammi, who really wasn't listening to Natalie at lunch. They'd gone for hot tea and chips.
"Nice." Sammi gave her a bland surprise. Yes, she wanted to nurture this friendship. Just not today.
"He's so adorable." Natalie couldn't help but grin. "We haven't gone out yet, but we talk on the phone. Its more than texting." She sighed as if this could be the real deal.
"That's great." Sammi was still down. Why hadn't she met her dream date? Of course, there was Logan. And maybe they had gone on their dream date. Ice skating. Sammi stirred her lemoned hot tea. She hadn't talked to him since the incident. It would be painful. She was kind of afraid to talk to him. A sadness swept over her. She looked at Natalie, thinking who could get that silly over someone as nerdy as she was.
"OH MY GOD." Natalie made Sammi slightly jump. "There he is. There's Logan! He got my text. I can't wait for you to meet him, Sam."
Sammi couldn't help but make a scowl when she saw Logan coming toward them.
