Logan kept laughing, long after the movie. He and Alex had had a blast at the last show of the night. It was a space alien comedy. It left them in a fit of laughter. They'd sat at the back of the theater, sharing a huge bucket of popcorn, but they had their own drinks. Really, Logan felt better. It was great to be with Alex. And he wasn't so jealous of Sammi now. He liked keeping Alex company.
They walked in the dark now. Sort of. Street lights shown the path back. It was damp out. Cold still. They were huddled together. Logan was OK that this would be as close as they'd get. Neither had a car. They should have caught a bus, but they'd spent all their money on snacks.
"God, its freezing." Alex's teeth were chattering.
"When will it ever be fuck'n spring?" Logan said as if it sounded right.
Alex's laugh was soft. The walk didn't take long back to the dorm, but it was edging close to two in the morning and Alex still had about two miles to go, back to his place.
"Do you want to stay?" Logan offered as he was heating up some water in the electric kettle for some hot chocolate.
Alex looked around Logan's tiny room. It was just the two of them. Logan's roommate was never here. Logan never asked why. But it was always just him.
"That would be great." Alex's hands were still deep in his jean pockets. He still looked cold, but soon enough he had off his leather jacket and scarf and was drinking the hot chocolate Logan had made him.
They were quiet for sometime.
"I really thought it would be different with Sammi." Alex then sighed as she sipped the hot drink. "Don't get this the wrong way..."
Logan wondered just what he was getting at, as he stared at Alex.
"There..there is just something off about her." He shrugged. "She might be a lesbian."
Logan almost burned himself on his hot chocolate. It spilled on his T and well, he had to take it off, but he hurried into his favorite long sleeve thermal shirt as if not to let Alex think..maybe...
"You know, its college, and..maybe she's just..experimenting." That's what Logan liked to believe about himself. He needed to find himself. Couldn't she do that?
"I guess." Alex winced. Logan didn't know Alex at all, he supposed and he found it harder, wanting to be himself around him.
