Well, Logan seemed different, but Natalie didn't want to say anything as she stood in line behind him at the cafeteria. It was so cold. It hadn't even hit forty degrees, and Logan was in his cargo shorts and just a short sleeve plaid shirt over his green T with the recycle symbol on it.
"Wow, Logan?" Natalie tried to get his attention.
Finally, he looked back and made a goofy duck lip and blew air out of his mouth. He did a wiggle and shrug. Then looked back.
"What was that about?" Natalie had to wonder if he was on something. She edged her way next to him pointing to everyone that he had saved her a spot. "Are you, OK?"
"Yes." He said ever so bitterly as if she'd ruined some private moment for him.
"Sorry." She bit her bottom lip. Derrick hadn't been happy to see her, either this morning. She was beginning to think maybe she smelled bad. What if she had a certain pharem that turned off guys? Natalie hugged herself.
She noticed how Logan was trying to calm himself. He sighed heavily then.
"Where's Derrick?" Logan was serious.
"I dunno. I haven't even seen him on campus. Have you?" Natalie asked.
Logan shook his head, no. Just then that new guy Logan knew hit him hard, right in arm.
"OW." She thought Logan might slid down the wall in pain, but they both laughed as if was some secret game that she wasn't a part of.
"So you doing anything after this?" The fellow asked Logan.
"General Hospital?" Logan shook his head.
"General Hospital." They both grinned as if it were code for something else. Finally Logan turned to Natalie and introduced her to Alex.
"Sammi was talking about you." Now she was putting two and two together when she stared at his ocean blue eyes.
"Was she?" Alex's eyes opened wide as if he wanted to hear more.
"Oh, its..its nothing bad. I-I take it ..she likes you." Natalie sighed.
"I like her too." Alex nodded.
Suddenly, Natalie felt sad. It would have to be like this, wouldn't it? Just when Sammi had every thing going for her, Natalie was sure she was in the dull-drums with Derrick now.
