"HE STOLE THAT JOB FROM ME!" Megan just knew it. She didn't know Alex had that much experience in drama. He was practically a shoo in.
"Why did you even let him stay here?" She cornered Smed in their room. She hadn't meant to explode about it, but all she had was her crappy babysitting job. It wasn't going to change.
"So now its my fault? Alex needed a place to stay. He needed a job, Meg." Smed told her not to make this out to be him. "You have something. He had nothing. He needs this. And we both know, he can do it. He knows what he's doing."
"And I wouldn't?" She couldn't help but be bitter about this. "You practically, hid him from all of us. I bet you didn't even tell Sammi about this."
"He's paying rent. By the week." Smed looked at her point blank. "God, Meg. Just don't make this about you."
Now she was upset. She'd hoped things were getting better. Caitlin was hard to talk to now. She hid in her room, if she didn't go to work. Zeke wasn't much better. She felt so alone. She didn't even want to get to know this Alex. Maybe he'd be gone by the end of summer.
But things were changing. All she had was that job and some business math course to take. Really, she needed to yell at someone, and there was only Smed to yell at.
