"Are you gonna be OK in here, all by your lonesome?" Caitlin saw that Smed had removed anything that was his. Not a trace of him, anywhere in their room.
Megan didn't look well. She looked tired as she put her suitcase on the bed and sat down next to it. Caitlin watched as her hand glided across the bedspread.
"He's not even here, is he?" Megan looked at her.
"Well, he..he moved to the basement. He, he just went on a trip...to see his brother. You know, his brother and his wife had their baby." Caitlin shrugged.
Megan looked away as if there was a bad taste in her mouth.
"He'll be back." Caitlin promised. Megan gave a heavy sigh.
"Why am I like this?" Megan's frown tensed.
"Hey, you'll be OK." Caitlin sat on the other side of her and put her hand on her back. Megan seemed so frail. It was as if she'd lost all her spunk. "Remember, Alex is making you a special dinner tonight."
"Yeah, I can hardly wait." She barely said as she looked back at her things on the dresser. "He's making it really easy to hate him now." She gritted.
Caitlin knew she was talking about Smed and not Alex.
"Well, at least you won't have to see Smed right away." Caitlin reminded her.
"But I wanted to see him. I really did." Megan's voice cracked. Caitlin hugged her then as if things would get better.
