"Wow." Caitlin took a sneaky look through the Patio window. The table was so formal. Candles lit, the pool shimmering. It was lovely. And Caitlin heard Megan laugh. "Well, you must have done something right, Alex." She told him who was serving up something that had plenty of Ready Whip on it. It was chocolate pudding with raspberries. "You have any left over?" She was hungry now. He pointed to the fridge so she went to get her own dish.
"This isn't snooping, is it?" She asked when Alex came back with the plates that had a few leftovers on.
"Not at all." Alex cracked a small laugh.
"So..so it this Dung nice?" Caitlin wanted to know.
"Of course, he's really a great guy." Alex nodded.
Caitlin sighed, thinking how strange this would be. Getting used to seeing Megan with someone new. She did want to see Megan happy. It worried her to think of Megan all alone. She wasn't like Caitlin in high school. Somehow, Caitlin was certain she could manage being alone. Not that she wanted to be.
She took her dessert back to her room. Zeke was doing some homework on his laptop.
"Have you heard from Smed?" Caitlin gave Zeke a spoonful of the soft dessert before he could even answer.
"Yeah, I know they got there." Zeke said after he choked down the chocolate and cream.
"How do we do this now?" Caitlin looked at him as if she was trying to figure out a difficult math equation. "You know, do we go out with Natalie and Smed now? Would that be wrong? Should we just do things with Megan?"
"We'll just take it as it comes." Zeke leaned back in his computer chair.
"But we were all going to the bonfire. We talked about it. Remember? Remember the first home game? We have tickets." Caitlin loved the thought of them, all together. Not these extras.
"Hey, we'll load up in the car. Who ever wants to go, can go." Zeke simplified it. Caitlin wished she could, but in the back of her mind..she kept thinking of Megan and Smed together.
