"You gotta leave it alone." Alex shook his head when Logan told him about Sammi and how she was evidently sweet on this new fellow.
"But how did it happen?" Logan squinted.
"Who knows. You just don't question it. It just happens." Alex smiled. "I'm sure she wondered the same thing about us, you know." They walked together toward the student union. Both looked as if they were ready for a Harry Potter movie with their stripped scarves and warmer coats. It wasn't snowing, but almost cold enough.
"I hadn't thought about it, like that." Logan was quiet then.
"Just give her time. Them time. Sort it out. I knew things didn't really click with her and Derrick. I guess she was holding back." Alex sighed. "But Derrick is just as bad. Now he's gotta be all mopey about this Sammi breakup. Treating Meg like..I dunno. He just should appreciate her as a friend. Its hard sometimes, for everything to stay the same. Yet it does."
They talked about Thanksgiving then. Alex said he wasn't going anywhere. He was needed to help out at the Ape house. Lot of people were taking vacations, but he was sticking around.
"I think my Mom's coming, you know, to check up on Noel and Randi." Logan told him as they got inside from the cold and went to sit in the art room to do some homework.
"That should be fun." Alex smiled.
"Well, she wants to do things with us, too." Logan shrugged as he turned on his netbook.
"Oh really?" Alex could hardly wait. Just what was Logan's Mom expecting?Alex put his arm around him and gazed up at a picture behind him. Alex squinted then. The painting look vaguely familiar. It was a nude of himself.
