"Where are you?"
Caitlin heard Megan on the phone. She'd just gotten to bed and Megan was in the hallway on her cell.
"What's going on?" Caitlin was sure it was about Sammi. Maybe her date left her stranded.
"I have to go find Derrick." Megan took a moment to tell Caitlin. Both were in their pajamas.
"He's a big boy. He can take care of himself." Caitlin shood her right back to her room.
"No. No, its different, some freak'n idiots left him out toward the lake, alone." Megan was fired up about it' as she got on her shoes and a coat. "I'll just drive around until I find him."
"You aren't going out their alone, its after midnight!" Caitlin wouldn't hear of it. She went to get her shoes, waking up Zeke in the process.
"Are you crazy." He of course, had more clothes to pull on in the process. "You two aren't going anywhere."
"I could already be on my way." Megan fussed as she pushed on her glasses.
"I don't like the idea you being, all by yourself." Caitlin followed.
Soon enough Zeke started up the car and Caitlin road shotgun while Megan sat in the back on her cell with Derrick.
Zeke sighed while Megan was trying to figure out how to track Derrick down on a GPS.
"Why can't I do this!" She fretted.
"I'll just drive toward the lake." Zeke yawned.
"I really wished you'd told me this was so serious between you and Derrick." Caitlin looked back at Megan in a pout.
"Why..why do you do this? You think you know everything..well, you don't. He's my friend. We're just friends." Megan glared back. She kept fussing with her phone
Caitlin turned back and looked ahead. She shook her head. Well, he didn't sound like just a friend. He had to be more than a friend by the tone in Megan's voice.
Zeke kept his eye on the road. He didn't try to agree or disagree with Caitlin on the Derrick matter. Finally, they headed toward to the lake. The bridge was just ahead, and there was Derrick at the end of it, leaning against the metal railing.
Caitlin saw the sigh of relief on Derrick's face as he got in.
"You could have fallen off that bridge." Megan warned him.
"Can we go home now." Zeke looked back at the both of them. Derrick was certainly in no shape to drive.
Caitlin hugged herself tight. This was a mistake. A big mistake, but she knew Megan would not listen. Not now.
