what can I say

"Did you know?" Zeke asked as soon as Smed got home from work. He'd put in an extra shift, since the morning guy never bothered coming in.

"Know what?" Smed was tired and wished he was in bed, already. He was dragging, even if he'd lived on several pots of steaming coffee today and dry donuts. Not the best combination. So many things he needed to work on. His eating habits, homework and the Natalie situation.

"About Megan and Derrick? They're getting married." Zeke looked as if Smed was suppose to do something about it.

"Oh, really?" It took Smed a moment to visualize this. After all,  Natalie's friend Alfie was here. He didn't know she even knew an Alfie. But evidently, they went way back, like fifth grade or something. There was a lot on his mind.  Christmas. Looking for an engagement ring. Now Natalie's friend.

"Aren't you going to talk to Megan?" Zeke winced.

"Do I have to?" He grabbed one of gingerbread men on the kitchen counter then. He took a bite, but wished he hadn't. He needed real food. Like chili, or a loaf of bread and a jar of peanut butter. He grabbed the milk out of the fridge and poured himself a glass.

"Yes, you should. Reason it out. Something." Zeke was wide eyed.

"You should do it." Smed sighed. It had honestly been ages since they'd spoken. "I'm the last person she wants to talk to. You have to know that." Possibly, it was the fact that she was the last person he wanted to talk too.

I like it and love to look at the pictures on the right site to imagine the scene! Well done!

Sometimes, I wonder if Smed avoids confrontation until its too late. But then, again..I wouldn't know what to say or do, either.
