Caitlin shook her head. She didn't know what to say. Why in the world did she ever say she understood Noel? She didn't. And that last line of his. God, what an asshole, she kept under her breath. She knew it true.
But she was in her own deep sorrow too. And she'd just noticed, Zeke took his things from their room. His stuff was gone. He'd left, but much more silently, evidently.
It wasn't like she was trying to hide from him, but she did. When she'd hear him coming, she'd go to another room as if not to look at him. But in reality, she didn't want him to see the deceit on her face. She didn't have the energy to explain.
And it was only a kiss with Smed. OK, a lot. For a very long time. But that was all she really needed. She guessed. Even still. It changed things. It did. Knowing the truth. Knowing Smed. Funny, how it all felt so good and natural with him. Yet, only slightly different, from Zeke. It was just hard to tell who she was really thinking of when she was with Smed. After all, she'd lived and breathed Zeke for so long now. But it was Smed, and there came the emotion with it, like a bomb that went off in her heart.
So this was why it never worked with Megan? It was because...she felt woozy thinking of Smed now. She hated herself for feeling so oblivious to this fact.
Her cell rang. It was Megan.
"So, did she have the baby?" Megan asked.
"I guess so." Caitlin didn't know for sure. "But..but its not Noel's."
"Are you sure? Oh God." She heard the horror in Megan's voice.
"Well? Who's do you think it is?" Caitlin winced.
"I dunno." Megan sounded as if she knew.
"Logan's?" Caitlin knew Randi and Logan worked together.
"If only.... I'm not gonna say." Megan sighed as if she were ready to spit fire. Caitlin could only guess what Megan was thinking.
