"Are those for me?" Randi couldn't help but ask. It had been so quiet around here the last few days. It was almost Valentines day, and there Zeke was carrying a heart wreath of silk roses.
"Might as well be." He acted as if he didn't know what to do with them. "I'm getting the silent treatment."
"Is that why you're sleeping on the couch?" Randi shrugged as she went to unload the dishwasher, wondering when she'd get her Valentine's day present.
"Could be." Zeke seemed as if he might throw the wreath in the trash. "I, I just saw it, and thought..maybe..maybe ..we could use it for the wedding. It was on sale."
Randi thought where would it go at a wedding? She imagined a funeral instead, but she didn't mention anything to him. Instead, she bit into an iced pink heart shaped cookie. She'd bought them herself. It was good to be nice to herself. She would not tell Noel about them, but she guessed he'd know she'd eaten them by the size her butt was getting. She felt as if she were growing everywhere.
"I hope it works out." She smiled as she offered him a cookie. At least he took it, but he ate slowly, while she just couldn't get enough of the treats. "You're a sweet guy, Zeke. She'll realize that, sooner or later."
"I dunno, anymore." He looked really lost. Randi was worried about him. She really was. He looked so sad. The only thing she could think to do ...was to kiss to him. And she did it with tongue, without any apprehension. For a second, she thought he was Noel. But she awoke to the fact, that he wasn't. And it was a pleasant fact to know. Zeke was so kissable.
"Oops." That was all she could manage. Maybe, they didn't need to talk about this.
