Zeke felt as if he might have fallen into something warm and gooey, yet it filled him up with laughter too. He couldn't stop smiling as he cradled Ari. Such life, sweet and beautiful.
"You're really taking such good care of her, you know." He thought he said as he watched Ari's dark eyes. Her little mouth yawned, but she kept her eye on him. Her little fingers stretched out. He couldn't help but touch them. It felt amazing to hold the baby, but then he remembered. "Am I even doing this right?"
"You're fine." She lead him to the rocking chair. "This is where we feed her." Randi went to get a bottle for him. He was left a few minutes with the tiny thing which had to be close to six pounds now. Her hair was dark He could see Randi's face so clearly when he looked at Ari up close. He grinned at the revelation.
Randi handed over the small bottle.
"I dunno, if..if I can do this." He'd never given a bottle to a baby before. "Maybe you should..."
"Oh no, you don't. You know she only wants it one way from me. You gotta do it.. this way." She teased.
Zeke blushed. He didn't come here to watch Randi breastfeed.
"You still want to go to the movies, don't you?" Zeke asked after he settled into giving the baby a bottle.
"Absolutely." She grinned.
"Are you free on Sunday afternoons?" He looked up at her.
"I'm pretty sure..I could work something out." Randi sighed.
"OK, you start making a list of what you want to see. We'll see if we can get to it. All right?" Zeke smiled.
Randi smiled as if she wished it was Sunday, everyday.
