"Wow, Sheila's here." Zeke gritted a smile. Suddenly, he was a tad nervous.
Smed called just to let Zeke know. Suddenly, he felt this was really a bad idea, showing Randi his place. She was over with the baby. He'd brought her. She'd been asking about it for some time. It wasn't that she was pestering him about it. Maybe. He just couldn't hold it against her.
As it was the place was a Hodge-podge of things mostly from Good-will, or a coffee table that was just on the street that someone was giving away.
"I really haven't had time to do much." They mainly stayed in the kitchen. His voice echoed. It was quite large. Big enough for dining, except he didn't have a tabel. She checked out the empty fridge.
"Its a cute place." She told him. Before he knew it she'd pushed the stroller down the thin hall and took a look at the bedrooms. But she didn't pry in his. "What are you going to do, in this room?" She looked at the empty one. The smaller bedroom of the two.
"I'm not sure." He scratched the back of his head thinking he should think of something, but he hadn't. He sighed then as she wheeled the stroller back in the bare livingroom.
"I bet you get a dog." She smiled as she talked of the big back yard.
"That's..thats a lot of work." He couldn't be set on the idea.
Suddenly, there was the sound of the car doors shutting.
"Man, that was quick." It startled Randi.
"I think they were in the car when he called." Zeke shrugged. "Well, Sheila had Smed's phone."
And they came right in without knocking. The first thing Sheila saw was the baby. She smiled at Ari, then reached for Zeke for a hug.
He told her about Ari. "She's Randi's daughter. And Randi is Natalie's cousin." He pointed to Randi who gave her a little wave as if she were ready to compete on a game show.
Naturally, he was on his sister's case for not calling him about this Spring Break plan of her's. "You have to call Mom. Now." He ordered. If she didn't, he would. He shook his head, looking first at Smed then Randi. He turned back to Sheila and told her he was glad she was here. He guessed he'd give her a little tour, but Sheila was more impressed with Ari. She wanted to hold the baby.
