"You weren't mean about any of it, were you?" Randi couldn't help but ask. She knew Zeke wouldn't be with Caitlin. Still, she thought a conversation like this would have been done ages ago.
"Maybe she feels better now. You know, having her..say. I mean, I do. Maybe I talked to much." Zeke shrugged as if he didn't want to dwell on the conversation with Caitlin. He was back home now and she'd put Ari down for a nap.
They had Ari's room all ready. But it wouldn't be official until they tied the knot. Randi was only over because she needed to stop by the zoo and Zeke was going to watch the baby.
Funny, she didn't feel so rushed anymore. The wedding was getting close and it was moved to the park. All these people Zeke worked with thought it would be the perfect wedding at the gazebo by the river. Still, it wasn't a major function. Just an ice cream cake after the ceremony. No meal nor dance.
Of course, there was the thought that maybe he might have second thoughts. Did she ask, or wait and see?
He held her hand and she watched his strong fore arm. For a second, she thought maybe she didn't like all the waiting. Marriage. Then sex. What if it was a deal breaker? She had not thought of this. Of course, it had been an awful long time. Months in fact.
Like a virgin for the very first time hummed through her head. Yes, she felt it would be. And she'd have to wait.
Randi kissed him quick, but he kissed her back as if he could hardly wait. She smiled as she felt the caress of his fingertips on her cheek.
"We are going to be ready for this." Zeke told her. "We are. No looking back. No feeling guilty. We are getting married."
Randi smiled as if she believed him. She did. It felt like home already. And she was ready to take Zeke's last name.
