Randi was beginning to think she had the best family in the world. Natalie's parents kept Ari and paid for their airplane ticket to the beach while Zeke's Mom got them a hotel reservation right on the beach in Corpus Christie. Of course, it was only for the weekend, but they made the most of it. She even shaved Zeke's sideburns. Otherwise, she was afraid everyone might think him Amish on a vacation.
"Is it as good as you thought it would be?" She asked hoping she didn't think she was asking him anything specifically. Just the trip as they frolicked along the sandy beach, wind blown and slightly sunburned.
"Well, of course." He smiled back. She felt the weight of his hand in hers. She loved how sincere he could be. It was amazing to come this far. Away from home, a long way from how it used to be. She trusted him. Randi never thought that possible. Certainly not with Noel.
This was an adventure. Randi had no idea where it might go, but it was with someone she felt her whole self with. Someone who saw her strong and beautiful. When she fell into him, he caught her, and she felt a freedom in his embrace.
She knew he missed Ari as much as she did. But she was happy now. It wasn't just sex with him. No, those days were over, and Randi wasn't going to look back.
