It was getting so chaotic, making Hattie more giddy by the minute as she helped with makeup. Someone helped with hers. For a moment she felt lost. Honestly, she couldn't recognize Timo. Was he even there?
"Hey." He tapped her on the shoulder. She turned and he looked so bloody and cold.
"Wow." She smiled in her zombie makeup.
"Wow, yourself." She noticed his smile then. He didn't look that scary, after all.
"Can you believe we are doing this?" Every night this week, in fact. The Haunted House planned to be open, even into November.
"I think I believe it." He sighed as if he might have butterflies in his stomach.
He took her hand. She knew then he wanted her close. They would be scaring people of all ages together.
"So, we're boyfriend and girlfriend zombies? Is that it?" She wondered if they needed a motive for this kind of thing.
"Only if you want to." He shrugged. Here, he was in a suit and tie, yet zombie made up. She was in her quirky attire with bright blue tights and paisley shift dress. She wore a pale sweater. They did look like an odd couple even for the real world.
She touched the ax planted in head ever so horrific. It oozed something red.
"Is it on straight." She'd hate for it to fall off.
Timo gave it a secure thumbs up. They had to hurry out into the dry cornfields. It was practically dusk.
She looked up to the harvest moon then. It was going to be a long night. She hoped it was worth it.
Timo held her hand. She was glad he was here, but it was time to get her zombie face on. They needed to put on a good show for the crowd.
