Alfie was not very pleased with Randi. Letting him sit next to Liza at the dinner party.

He understood why she did it. To even out the dinner party. Still, it would have been nice if she'd mentioned it to him. Wasn't like he changed from work. He was in his trusty flannel shirt over his gray thermal shirt.

He kept cramming his face full of food so he wouldn't have to talk. He had to endure the whole dinner, sitting next to her. Ever so often he'd glance over. She'd look at him. Smile. Maybe she wasn't any better at these sort occasions than he was.

Liza worked with Randi at the zoo, but she worked in the gift shop. Thankfully, she wasn't an animal doctor of some sort. Not to say he thought Liza was stupid. It was just, he had nothing interesting to say. She wasn't  much better. Maybe, she didn't mind that he was there. Alfie wasn't going to ask.

He did his best to get through the night. He was certain Hallum didn't like him around. Possibly, Alfie was just depressed, but he offered to do the dishes. It was the least he could do. He could escape anymore uncomfortable moments with Liza, but instead she joined him.

"I don't like meeting new people, either." She told him as she was ready to have dish pan hands, insisting she could wash them.

"Its kind of hard, when you're the new person around." He smiled. She smiled back. He guessed she was a lot nicer than he wanted to admit.

She told him she was a piano teacher. "Just not a very successful one." She was needing students.

Alfie thought maybe he could help her out. But couldn't be sure how keen Paul would be interested with the idea.
