Randi was glad it was just the three of them, again. The cooking and the cleaning was a little much for her. Especially, with Zeke's mom there. And then later, Noel's mother. But everything went so fast. She didn't really get to catch up with Zeke's Mom about Sheila, who stayed behind for some project she was working on. Yet, Randi was beginning to wonder if Sheila might be a liar. She didn't want to dare bring it up, but she sensed it, somehow.
She wouldn't mention it to Zeke. Besides, there was the fear that Noel might show up. His mother mentioned his birthday. He was born a week before Christmas. Soon enough, Randi found out he wasn't even in the country. He was overseas. Randi supposed he was teaching. It was best to think positive. She was trying, but as she watched Ari finally sleep peacefully, an emotional toll soon over took Randi.
She went to the kitchen to scrub on a pan that wasn't quite as clean as it should be, even if it did make a trip through the dishwasher.
She finally let herself cry, thinking of Noel's words from his mother, "He never wanted to be a father."
It broke her heart that he could be so horrible, especially to someone so sweet an innocent as their daughter.
"Shouldn't you be taking a break?" Zeke asked as he leaned over her shoulder, and she felt the warmth of him next to her. Randi turned to him immediately and started to cry on his shoulder. A part of her hoped Ari never learned the truth.
"What's the matter?" He wanted to know.
"Its nothing." She closed her eyes tight. "I'm..I'm so glad I have you. I'm glad Ari has you."
"Well, you know, I'd be quite miserable, if you two weren't around." He told her as she hugged him tighter.
She let go of the emotional pain she felt. It was true she did have the family she always wanted. It felt very real now that Noel was gone for good. She hardly remembered what he looked like, because Ari didn't look a thing like him.
She sighed as she released Zeke.
"Lets watch that British show you got for Christmas." Zeke smiled.
"Being Human?" She couldn't wait.
"Yeah, the one where the werewolf, the vampire and the ghost live all together." Zeke followed her into the livingroom.
"I wonder if Hallum likes this show?" She went to pop it into the DVD player.
"Maybe you, should ask, when you, call Natalie." He went to get comfortable on the couch. She soon joined him, snuggling next to him. Honestly, she felt so sleepy now.
"She needs to call me." Randi sighed as they watched the commercials.
"You two aren't fussing again, are you?" He patted down her messy hair.
She shook her head, no. She closed her eyes as she snuggled next to him as if he were her favorite teddy bear. Yes, she was ready for a nice nap.
