They'd eaten too much fast food a long the way. Logan could kick himself for not enjoying the motel room they'd stayed in. But even there, he was full of nausea and felt out of sorts. He kept thinking some horrible redneck would bust in, blasting them away with a shotgun.
As of yet, no one seemed to bother with them. Some girl by the pool invited them over for tacos and margaritas. Logan looked shocked, thinking they should keep to themselves, but Alex said "Sure."
When they got there, everyone was practically in their bathing suits. Well, in their shorts and some of the guys didn't wear shirts. It was a loud feast. Logan couldn't catch anyone's name to remember. Now he felt so out of it. Maybe it was the alcohol.
"What am I suppose to do here?" He wasn't sure Alex was listening. He looked really tired. After all, he'd been racing around on campus on foot when he probably should have drove Logan's car, to get to know where he was going.
"You'll figure it out. We'll figure it out." Alex shrugged as he finally laid next to Logan, when they got back to their new room, staring at the ceiling as if this was the closest they'd get to the stars tonight.
Logan hated the thought of looking for a job. He'd missed enrolling this semester. Still Alex was certain they could figure out a way for him to get in on some class. His resume was definitely not impressive.
Logan wasn't sure he had the energy to look for work. There was a crowd at every corner. How could he possibly find a job?
"We'll look on campus first." Alex laid it out. "Maybe, just feeding animals."
Logan nodded. But even that sounded so lame.
"I'm really..really sorry.." Logan winced thinking he should be more, somehow to Alex. Someone he could actually lean on.
"You've got nothing to be sorry about. Honestly, you don't." Alex told him. But the bed was very still. It was so quiet. Logan lifted up on his elbows. Alex was already asleep.
