Logan watched three people take the job he wanted.
He wasn't sure if he were a volunteer. Perhaps and observer. To see what took place. And he got down all the special feeding process of the little creatures in the lab. It was honestly a quiet job. Almost too boring. It wasn't that hard of a job for the most part.
But then came the rude awakening of what happened to these specimens. And it was then the emotion of it. Something so alive and then nothing. And to be in control of it.
Not actually. It was taking orders from someone else who told you the exact time and place of extinguishing somethings existence.
The first candidate for the job bailed at the mention of what was to come. The second one lasted most of the week, but then puked his guts out when he did the deed.
All the while Logan watched. He would not do that. He kept promising himself. Especially, if the job was full time and paid fifteen buck an hour. He kept going over it in his head how to properly get the needle ready. How not to bolt.
And then one day, the doctor asked if he'd like to try. And he said yes. It was possibly the coldest day of his life, but he put the little white mouse to sleep.
