"Why so many questions about my Dad?" Gavin didn't know why Caitlin was so concerned.
"I dunno. You never talk about him." She sat on the couch next to him while they were watching an episode of some obscure British comedy on Netflix.
"Well, he's always working." Gavin sighed. His dad never took time for a vacation. "I think Mom is just worried about his blood pressure."
"So he's the reason you work so hard." She flirted as if his Dad must be so wonderful.
"Yeah, that's it." He decided to agree. Of course, he always thought his dad was just avoiding the issues. Home. His kids. He let his Mom run the show, as far as Gavin was concerned. Not that he was complaining, but he seriously didn't want to be that guy.
"So have you heard from your friend, lately?" Usually, Cait spoke of Megan, but she hadn't in the longest while. "Did you two have another falling out?" He wasn't really watching TV. Actually, he was enjoying how she leaned on his shoulder. It was good to be this close, to talk. Of course, he wanted her to do the talking. Maybe he was a lot more like his Dad, than he thought.
"You know, how busy she is with a baby." Caitlin sighed as if might be something she would never exactly know.
"Yeah, I guess it would be..hard." He cleared his throat. He reminded her that she was very busy, too. She was after all taking so many computer classes. She so wanted to get ahead. "But you know, what you are doing, isn't exactly a piece of cake." She was working full time too. At least as the moment, she wasn't annoyed with some paper she was working on.
"Well, what does your Dad like to eat?" She asked as if she was ready to get in the kitchen and make his favorites.
"Oh, no you don't." Gavin grinned. "They'll be taking us out to eat. Besides, you have way too much to be worrying about, than what he likes."
He had a feeling his Dad would be full of questions. Like, why weren't they married already.
