"Crap," Roman said with a wince when he got up.
"What?" LaLa asked, thinking she might not have any more sense than he did. What was she thinking? Sleeping with someone who wasn't even vaccinated.
She went to make coffee. Naturally, the cleaning fairies didn't do much while they were asleep. She guessed the kitchen could look worse. Honestly, this was no place to have a dinner party, but she knew a guy like Roman could have a party anywhere.
"No, I'm fine." He slipped on sweatpants. He went to find coffee cups. "Damn, if that Kyle can't fool me."
"What do you mean?" LaLa looked at him as if she didn't have a problem with his friend. He seemed pretty cool to her and he was with a very calm chick who was a yoga instructor.
"Oh, that girl of his..she's his roommate," He winced more then shook his head. "Why is he such a liar?"
"What did you do?" She swelled a frown as if she knew all about his reputation. She heard Bren speak of his streaking days back in high school and how he stripped a prom for his date.
Roman only sighed. "That..that is not the point."
She only laughed at him and poured him a cup of coffee.
"Don't get on his case," LaLa told him. "You two are still friends, aren't you?"
"I guess."
"Don't even let on that you know."
He nodded.
She took a sip of coffee thinking he might be mental, but she didn't want to believe that. After all, last night was good. Maybe not great, but she had no expectations. It was kind of funny that she'd get together with him. Perhaps, she'd done it out of spite and Caitlin kept asking if he was seeing anyone as if he just might be the one for LaLa.
They'd just met and she already felt Caitlin was a long-lost friend she was in need of. "Just think of things we could get up to this summer," Caitlin had smiled then at the dinner party, adding she would love it if LaLa and Roman went camping and road trips with them.
Of course, that was just a dream. LaLa wasn't sure things would ever get back to that normal.
Roman went to scramble some eggs and she found the bread to make toast. Of course, there was no sign of Bren. LaLa checked Bren's room already. She hadn't even slept there.
I think Lala is not as happy as some people think ;-)

ReplyDeleteIt used to be that casual sex health worries were limited to pregnancy and STDs. Now comes COVID! Not that Roman and LaLa don't have their emotional issues. I love the description and humor in this part and the way you capture Roman: "Naturally, the cleaning fairies didn't do much while they were asleep. She guessed the kitchen could look worse. Honestly, this was no place to have a dinner party, but she knew a guy like Roman could have a party anywhere." Ah, Roman, life of the party. Or is it more like tears of a clown? Guess I'll just have to keep reading!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I really feel LaLa is a point in her life where she might never find "fantastic" or so she thinks. And I feel a lot of us fall into this. Oh, and Roman always just a bit foolish.
DeleteEsse cara é festivo demais, além de não se importar com as condições em que essa festa aconteceria, estranho. Ela não está feliz em saber que ele se encaixa qualquer lugar apesar das condições. Chato. Beijos flor!
ReplyDeleteThis guy is too festive, besides not caring about the conditions in which this party would happen, stranger. she is not happy to know that it fits anywhere despite the conditions. boring. flower kisses!
DeleteHow long does one wait to fall in love again?
ReplyDeleteI guess the task is just living. Existing. Waiting.
Wonderful wisdom!
DeleteJust one word "woow"!
ReplyDeleteEstes dois estão tentando se acertar e sempre tem a preocupação com os outros...Tomar café já é um bom começo para um novo dia!
