A slight moment or an illusion

 Caitlin was full of worry. Wondering if the baby would ever get here. Then what?

"I bet you even prayed," Deano halfway smirked when he told her Dylan and Tori had a son.

She pressed her lips tight as if he was not supposed to say that. "So what if I did?"

"That's my girl," he pinched her cheek with a grin. Naturally, she didn't sleep a wink and was still in her pajamas when they finally got the news.

Of course, Halloween had been a bust. There was just no way to have something. Of course, Halloween was never quite as great as it was cracked up to be. In all her years, she'd only been left with candy she didn't even like.

She had a ton of questions about the baby. Not even Dylan had sent a picture.

"You think it looks like Melvin? Is it a redhead?" She wanted to know.

"Hmm, I wonder." Deano looked as if he knew, but wouldn't give a thing away. 

"Shouldn't he have a name?" Funny, she felt bad for wanting to know the negative with the positive about this infant. Caitlin hugged herself vowing she wouldn't be so terrible about this situation. But she just needed some facts. There were facts that needed to be known, but as it was..it was Dylan and Tori's baby.

"Well, you have to put some thought into it." Deano shrugged and went to make coffee. He looked back at her as if he knew if he made her breakfast she was sure to go back to bed, even at seven in the morning.

Caitlin only sighed.

"Why are you worried? You didn't even have the kid." Dean looked at her blankly.

"I dunno." She winced. "I just should have.."

"Like what? Gone off that day with Melvin?" He hit a nerve. As if this could have been her in Tori's situation.

"Well, if it had been me..there would be no baby." Did she have to remind him that she wore a patch and had been on birth control since she was sixteen?

He nodded. At that, he went off to make her breakfast. She knew she should face the fact that it was over. Tori had her baby, but it felt as if this was only the start of something.
