Honestly, Levi didn't know what the frenzy was about, but he'd tried to face-chat with Deano and noticed he was under the weather.
Of course, he was on cloud nine lately. He'd met Carly who was also a friend of that old professor. He'd ended up staying with her through New Year's. He was sure if he'd told Deano, he would have given him the third degree, but since he hadn't really met anyone in forever he was glad to finally meet up with Carly.
She was a backup singer. With so much potential. He was certain she should make an album of some kind. Yes, they'd talked so much about music, only she hadn't sang in a concert for ages. She was working in a daycare at the moment. Of course, he was certain she was letting all her talents go, but of course, she was needed and she liked the money.
He thought she should have been a nanny. It might be safer with all the rampant COVID. "Maybe, it would," she only nodded. "But I love the kids I see every day. They need me too."
It was hard for him to think that simple. But then he'd stayed at her place all of the holiday. It had been cozy. Something he'd missed. Maybe if he stayed with her long enough he'd see life the way she did.
"Well, maybe you should go back," Mario told him it was likely he'd have COVID any day here. They were doing their best to keep the place clean. Teegan had already moved in with Andi.
"What? Are you serious? Why?" Levi didn't want a new roommate. How could she? He barely knew her, but that was how it was supposed to be. Or at least, Levi thought that was the right perspective. As it was, Mario already had a new girl here who was cleaning the kitchen. Was she new? Mario never told him anything..which was OK..until now.
"Because she wanted to," Mario shrugged.
"Huh," suddenly Levi's throat was strange. He grabbed a piece of the Christmas fudge that Carly sent with him in his backpack. Could he still taste it? Of course, he could. Everything was fine.
It's interesting the way you include actually COVID news in the story.

ReplyDeleteGreat chapter. Life has changed with Covid and this gets reflected in your stories. Working in daycare might carry its risks, but as she says- the kids need her too.

I like this new romance with Levi and Carly. Carly's back story as a backup singer is interesting. And she seems to have a healthy perspective about being okay with her day job. I can see why Levi admires that and wishes he could feel the same: "Maybe if he stayed with her long enough he'd see life the way she did." Finally, I'm so glad that Levi could taste that fudge!
ReplyDeleteThat's cool that your library may have a new home. Your work stories are always entertaining; I bet you could write a book about that place . . . if you haven't already. :)
Covid issues are the same Everywhere! We can see this news from the posts.
