This is life before you know who you're gonna be

 "Is he always with you?" Alex asked when Liv and Rico arrived at Mel's pizza. He was at the counter ready to take their order.

Liv only grinned. She was shocked Alex would say such a thing. And Alex was HE tonight and she was going to order whatever she wanted. Maybe.

"Pretty much." She nodded as she looked over to Rico and told him it was her treat. Of course, he told her she didn't have to.

"Oh, but I want to." She looked back at Alex and said she wanted to order a large pizza. Half mushroom and half sausage. "Oh, and we need salads."

"I don't think we make those anymore." Alex winced. He gave them drink cups then, but they both got water.

"I think Alex likes it here," Rico said when they sat down.

"Yeah, he looks OK." She nodded back.

"I don't think he likes me, though," Rico tried to keep from smirking, but he couldn't.

"Oh, you don't know that," Liv said ever so sweetly. "He might have a secret crush on you."

"Oh, I think it's you he's got a crush on," Rico told her.

"Whatever." She sighed.

"Don't you wish you'd dated more in middle school?" He teased.

"No." But her voice filled with laughter. 

"Dating isn't something pretentious," Rico then said. "I've gone out a few times with girls."

"Gosh, you sound like an old man," Liv smiled.

"Well, I learned from the best, you know," he chuckled and then said his dad was always thinking up what would make a great date. "I'd never have enough money for any of that."

She nodded. So here they were. Stopping in to see Alex who probably didn't care. Although, he was waving at her at the moment. Their order was up. Rico went to get it.

"I want to go out with you guys, some time," Alex told Rico who only gave him a nod. 

Liv guessed they would have to make time for him. It was good Alex had a job, but he needed friends too.
