Hold on

 

At least there was hardly anyone at the library. True, Alex wasn't in the heavy rocker boots that made him/her giddy to wear trudging through the library stacks. Actually, he/she felt a little underdressed. Why wasn't it until now he realized how much he needed to be made up to be who she wanted her to be? 

Yes, the dress felt like summer. Of course, there were no fake breasts and the Chuck Taylors were rather classic but simple. Alex took a deep sigh. Did he/she really want to do this?

Of course, he/she didn't see Eric anywhere. Honestly, Alex didn't know what to expect. Eric was a runner and a dancer. Naturally, Alex dreamed Eric would be the perfect soul. But that was just a dream and the more his mind churned such a fantasy it made Alex want to ditch the whole situation.

But it was too late, Eric was putting away graphic novels. And as luck would have it, Alex reached for TIGER AND BUNNY. Eric looked over his shoulder and moved away as if he hadn't meant to hinder Alex's find.

Alex bit the corner of his bottom lip while Eric looked at Alex's sneakers.

"You look comfortable today," Eric said. Alex wasn't sure if he was imagining it, but maybe Eric smiled. Although, he was cool and quiet. "I'm sure you'll like that series."

Alex only nodded. Truly, they were speechless. It was as if their chest was on fire. Or what if it was a seizure? Alex was certain to faint, but it was as if they held the body intact.

"So..so you've seen me?" Alex squinted, unsure he/she needed to know.

Eric nodded.

"Oh, you just don't forget somebody like you," Eric remained even lipped.

"What?" Alex squinted. The grit of their smile hesitated.

"It can be kind of scary," Eric nodded as he went back to the books. "You know, I'm rather ordinary, and you always come off as if you might be the queen of the night."

"Oh." Alex didn't know. "I guess I'm scared too." 

"Aren't we all?" Eric looked back at him/her as if they were not alone.
