And I'm the one who will still stay

 "Seriously, you're wearing that today, to the zoo?" Jade winced as she looked up at Tristan in that get-up. He wore a hat, even binoculars around his neck while in a khaki suit.

"Why not?"

"Well..." She hated to tell him he looked like he was going on a safari. She choked on a laugh, doing her best to make it sound like a cough. They'd met up for lunch at the campus cafeteria. This was his first day working at the zoo. He was to meet up with a group and they were traveling by van. It sounded really professional all. She guessed. "So..so I guess you're excited."

He gave her a nod as if this was his business, not hers. Somehow, she felt a little lost with him these days. She wasn't sure if it was because of the move, school, or just Tristan being Tristan. There were still so many things she didn't know. Sure, Mona mentioned to her more than once not to make him mad. Of course, she had no reason to.

Thankfully, they still ate dinner together at night at Tristan and Nic's.

"So how's that Weezer doing?" He made conversation as they stood in line at the cafeteria.

She couldn't help but crack up, but said he was just fine. "I don't really work with him, you know."

Tristan nodded. Somehow, he felt a million miles away. It seemed watching TV together was their safety zone. And yeah, she knew she probably nudge a little bit more than she should at night. Maybe he didn't even know they cuddling, she now thought and that left her a little straight-lipped.

"What?" He looked over at her as if there was a problem.

"Um, I've got homework," she told him.

"Me too." He nodded and said he might be late. "But I should be home by seven. Come over then, we can do homework together after we eat."

Jade smiled. That was just what she wanted to hear.
