"Have you lost your mind?" It was the first thing Pixie remembered saying to Frankie when he called to ask her to be a ballet teacher. Of course, that was right before Caitlin and Deano's unexpected wedding. Why in the world did he want to bring in a ballet school?
Oh, he was a smooth talker. Talking about the inner city, the mid-west. All sorts of people needed ballet. And of course, she was the first on his list. Then he mentioned someone they both used to know. Derrick.
"Derrick?" Wasn't he in a ballet company already? And of course, he mentioned Eric too.
It was something weighing heavy on her heart. What would Cyrus think? She was his guide, his..his..oh what was she anyway? It left her in a fret. She was still tired from the wedding. This was not supposed to be happening.
But Cory thought she might be coming down with something so he told her to rest. This only meant more phone calls from Frankie. Who came over and drove her to where the ballet school would be.
Of course, she'd been there. It was where he worked, but now he'd bought the place. Still, she felt numb or something bit her in the butt to prod her along.
Cyrus didn't go with them. He was very diligent with work and he'd been more quiet than usual, but then she was always telling him to be quiet. Now she nursed her bottom lip thinking she was nagging too much. They needed to get out and do something during all this nice weather. But it was work. Always work. Constantly, it seemed.
Frankie told her there would still be yoga classes, but there was a big space that was never used and left for storage. He'd accidentally figured out what the space was meant for.
"Well, if it didn't work out once upon a time, why would it now?" She hated to be a downer.
"Drew wants to dance," he said. "And I want him to know the ballet basics. Who knows what he could do." Oh, he'd learned a lot from Bea's Drew while out on the basketball court.
She looked about the room. The floor was pale and beautiful. It would be nice to see it full of students. Little ones and even older ones learning their Pirouettes and jumps.
"Well, if you have Derrick coming," Pixie said.
"He's already here," Frankie smiled.
Pixie shrugged with a smile. She guessed she would have to work here, after all.
Sounds good

ReplyDeleteGood :-D
ReplyDeleteLots of new things for Pixie! Including her hair, which I love. I think teaching at Frankie's new ballet school will be good for her. What's more concerning is Cyrus's reticence. Is he really focused on work, or is he avoiding Pixie after their special night? And when Pixie refers to herself as his guide, is it a blessing or a curse? This relationship of theirs is getting quite layered; I'm excited to see what happens next!
ReplyDeleteEsperó que le vaya bien a Pixie . Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteHoping this works out!
