"Is there any way you can give her a job?" There Eric said it. It was the least he could do for Delia. Honestly, he felt so guilty about the whole ordeal with Delia. Except, he couldn't explain it that way to Frankie, who was looking at him kind of funny.
"She's really good with numbers," Eric nodded. He was in Frankie's office at the dance and yoga studio.
Frankie fumed a bit. "Why?"
"Oh, you know, she's been so good to us," he shrugged. He knew this wasn't going to work, but he wanted to help her somehow. He didn't want her to think he was just using her..or the more he thought..was she using him? Had she only dated him hoping to get a job at the dance school?
"Oh really?" Frankie looked at him blankly, "How so?"
"She's..she's really been there for us." He guessed the snacks didn't matter, but it was nice. "She..she's gotten a lot of kids interested in coming to the dance school."
"I dunno." He shook his head.
"Look, she knows a lot about taxes. She..she works for this tax company during the tax months. She-"
"OK, that's great, but...I dunno..it would be just part-time," he shrugged.
"Great, I'm sure she could be a great help," Eric smiled as if it would be a start. It could lead to fulltime. He knew she would be an asset. "Would you, at least talk to her."
"Sure," his lips barely moved. Was he hearing him correctly? "The truth is, I hate this part of the job."
"Really?" Eric's eyes opened wide as he sighed. Maybe he could help Delia after all. "You know, her sister could be great with the kids. She's had some daycare experience. They both have." If he had too, he'd tell them everything about those too. They were even experience in all the kid stuff. They were excellent with kids.

ReplyDeleteGood
ReplyDeleteSo it looks like Delia's not gone after all! I should've known you would work her into the story. The point about her maybe using Eric to get a job is interesting and not something that had occurred to me. I don't blame Frankie for being wary -- or for eventually giving in. I hate dealing with numbers too!
