Never did no harm

"But, it wasn't intercourse," Delia said.

Dora could barely blink.  Was that a bad thing? She wanted to ask but did not. After all, she wasn't one to talk about such intimate details. Yes, she said she and Holden were getting along fine. Yet, she knew Delia wanted to give her a play-by-play, but Dora went off to do something in the kitchen. She did not want to know. What if they were having far more fun than she was with Holden?

Dora wasn't going to complain. Timing was everything and Holden did have good timing even if he did have to go operate on a dog afterward. Naturally, Dora had said, "Go save that dog!"

Of course, she'd stayed up the rest of the night worrying about the whole ordeal. What if it was too late? What if it was all her fault? After all, he was on call. Never had she thought this was what it would be like to date a veterinarian.

"You did not tell him about Lori, did you?" Of course, Delia found Dora after she put the laundry in the dryer. Honestly, she wished her roommate was still at Tristan's and not here.

Dora turned and gave her a perturbed look. "It's not that fascinating," she assured her. It felt like a prank gone wrong now.

Dora had never wanted to bring it up to anyone. It left her feeling like an idiot. If anything, she knew she should have punched Lori in the face. For starters, Lori needed a whole gang, evidently. According to Lori, Dora was just a child. "Why would I give up all my friends for somebody like you?" She'd taunted.

It was really disappointing at the time, but now she felt as if she'd been left in the cold of what was really going on. There was nothing true about Lori. Lori the liar, who was probably still in rehab or a women's prison. Honestly, Dora wasn't sure how it all came about. They'd met at a dance out at the park where her Aunt was camping on a hot July night. She wanted to forget about it, and she had until Delia brought it.

"Don't ever say her name, again." Dora winced hard. She and Delia weren't really family. But this was something she did not want anyone to know.

Delia nodded. She went to clear the dish rack as Dora was getting her rice bowls ready for the rest of the week. This meant rice and leftovers in all her daily containers. Mostly were of leftover veg and bits of chicken. They rarely ever had beef.

Really, Delia made her feel so bitter. Her luck if Holden knew, then it would be like she was broken in some way and he'd drop her like a rock that he had no need for. She pressed her lips tight.

Delia pointed to Dora's bottom lip. Delia thought she had a cold sore. "Oh, it's just a spider bite," Dora said.

"Who would believe that?" Delia's eyes lit.

Dora felt like crying. Why couldn't she stay happy?

  4. Oh I feel for Dora. I don't think Delia meant to upset her but clearly there's a lot of baggage there especially with Lori.

    Delia sharing details :)

The lyrics are tough this week. I usually google them to see how easy they are to figure out, and this one... no one might get...

  9. Okay, here are my two favorite parts:

"Timing was everything and Holden did have good timing even if he did have to go operate on a dog afterward."

"There was nothing true about Lori. Lori the liar, who was probably still in rehab or a women's prison."

Delia/Dale's history with Lori sounds intense. I don't blame her for worrying that it may scare off Tristan. Then again, he's "broken" too, as are we all. Which makes me think of "Broken" by Lovelytheband, one of my faves. 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔
