"Wait, you really don't have to do this," Diago told Gabe.
Gabe did his best not to be enthusiastic about this, but everything had changed. He finally got to see his mom again. And he thought that would be all he would ever need, but then the opportunity to have his own place was like icing on the cake.
"I know," where did he start? He looked at his cousin and the cramped space of his cousin's cluttered room. After all, he'd been sleeping on the floor. "I know I awe you all so much." Still, it was heavy on his heart as if an ice dagger had pressed into his chest. He wasn't sure if it was excitement or stress. He sighed. "But..but this is really what I want."
He knew he needed to know Pan, but to have his own home was something he'd never really had. He'd relied on everyone all his life. Maybe this wasn't that different, but it felt like a freedom he'd never experienced. "I'm sorry. I am, but..but you can have your room back."
Gabe reminded him he would be happier now. Ali could come over anytime without him around.
"Stop thinking..you know," Diago shook his head, no. "You're family."
Gabe nodded. Although, it felt as if it was his own private war. Still, everyone wanted him to take sides. At least, they hadn't involved his dad. He'd hate for him to be involved in this.
"It's gonna be fine, we won't be strangers." Gabe knew. "Besides, maybe..maybe you'll get to know Pan too."
Of course, Gabe couldn't stop thinking of the possibilities with Sammie. There was furniture at the new place and he smiled at the thought of having his own bathroom which of course he wouldn't mind sharing with Sammie. After all, they would be in the same apartment building.
Summer was definitely looking up. He was happy about the changes that were coming. Why couldn't Diago see this was what he needed?
I like this chapter. As I told you everytime , you have a great talent

ReplyDeleteand I know it is great :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that Gabe is going to get to know Pan -- even though it might be painful. And of course he will have Sammie too. You know it's love -- or infatuation or something -- when you're excited about sharing a bathroom!
ReplyDeleteI love that you saw two of your faceclaims together on Shein in Care Bear outfits! I can't wait to read about these two new best friends this summer! π§Έπππππ
