When she told him who she'd seen at the park, Deano thought Caitlin had really lost it this time.
"Are you done now," he looked at her blankly. This just made him frantic. Did she not care about her own family? "What..what..what if it's just someone who..who is not WADE?" He knew she couldn't sit still about this. It was as if this dude was her downfall.
He winced hard while she went to the bathroom. He was holding Hannah who was drooling on his shoulder.
Had she been in love with that guy? Deano squinted harder at the thought. Wade had never led her own, from what she'd told him, but it could be a warped Love Hate relationship that Deano couldn't comprehend.
He sighed, feeling this should be the end, but he couldn't let Caitlin go. He wouldn't. They were a family. Deano nursed his bottom lip.
"I just wish-" He started.
"What? That I'd leave it alone!" She then reminded him she had to stand up to him because of Tori.
"When is the last time you talked to her?" He guessed he sounded testy. He was making Hannah fussy. He danced around with her and made a silly face as if she was the center of his universe. "Dylan and Tori are fine. Why can't we be fine?"
Of course, Caitlin frowned at him as she leaned in the hall doorway. "Because I can't." She crossed her arms.
Deano nodded. He kept holding on to Hannah even if she was kicking him. He could feel the tension in his chest. Oh, how could he make this stop?
In a nightmare, he could imagine leaving her alone to chase this Wade, who was evidently trans now, according to her. He sighed. He would not do that. He'd just have to figure out how to help her. But how was he supposed to do that?
He finally put Hannah on the livingroom floor, and she raced away, struggling to crawl. Really, she was getting better with her movements. In the next moment, Hannah was reaching for the coffee table. Oh, it felt like a wobbly slow-motion event, but they both watched her pull herself up.
Finally, they both cheered and Caitlin reached for her phone to take a photo. The fact remained they needed to both be here for Hannah.

Aw... Hannah may bring them together even if they're at odds on other things. Was caitlin w/ Wade then? I should go back and brush up.
ReplyDeleteI may have to go back and read that too..lol..actually, it was a little one sided. Wade was Melvin's friend. Although, she didn't really pick up on that until later. She did have a bit of a crush on Wade. Although, he was arrogant and always put her down at every turn. Of course, he was always a mystery to her and even more of a mystery that he was Melvin's friend. On the other hand Melvin liked Caitlin but she just didn't have a chemistry with him, yet later she missed him. While with Deano, everything fell in place and she didn't want to question it.

I especially like the part about "this dude being her downfall"! Still, this is a serious situation, and I don't blame Deano for being worried enough to consider leaving. That's why, when Deano and Caitlin watch Hannah pull herself up, it's so sweet and symbolic. They can pull themselves up and out of this funk too! You're the master of symbolism! 👶💗👶💗👶💗👶💗👶💗👶💗👶💗
