"Are you kidding me?" Andie wrinkled a scowl as she looked at Abs aka Abby. Andie turned away with her hands on her hips. Oh, if only she could slap some sense into her, but she knew Abby was pretty much a Ninja warrior and would have her face down in the carpet. "When..when.." She wanted to say when will you have time for me. "When will you even have time for those college classes?"
Abby only sighed and hugged herself. "It'll only be in the mornings." She told her that it fit her schedule to help with the childcare place.
"But..but you'll be up by four?" Andie gave her the eye.
"I'm up then anyway." Of course, Abby gave her a yawn. These days she was in bed before the sun went down. She promised it wouldn't be forever. Besides, she planned on getting on with the police force in the future. She said it would be good for her. Besides, she'd taken care of her sister's baby. She said she was qualified. "I've had classes and everything."
"Well, why don't you go into nursing then," Andie hated the idea of her being in the police department.
"Because, this is what I set out to do. Why can't I?" Abby stared her down as if nobody told her what to do.
Andie sighed. God, she hope those toddlers stayed in line. Abby could be fearsome when she wanted to be.
Abby plopped herself down on the couch and turned on the TV. She mentioned then that she wasn't sure she even wanted to be at the coffee shop, anyway.
"Why?" Andie asked as she sat next to her and got comfortable. True, it felt these days Abby was always there for her, but it was hard for Andie to get used to.
"Oh, that girl Liv. I know she hates me," Abby sighed a little weary.
"Why? Did you scare her?" Andie gave her the eye.
"I just talked about you. I talked about my girlfriend and she went cold. Like that was wrong, you know. Imagine how she would have been if I said you were my wife." Abby told her.
Andie sucked in a breath. Were they that serious? Sure they'd had some summer fun. Taking daytrips to the Black Hills on Abby's bike. They'd even camped. And truly, Abby knew her birds from the nature trails. She was also a pescatarian. If anyone could keep Andie in line, it was Abby. There was no drinking at home or anywhere. She didn't even let a Dr. Pepper in the apartment.

I love the title so much! And how it ends - it's tied up so nicely.
ReplyDeleteSo I wasn't familiar with these characters and then LIV came up. Ah! So we're seeing the other side of that now. Good! And she's a pescaterian. Interesting.
ReplyDeleteLove the s'more. :)
95? Gahh! It's 81 here. You're definitely frying out there...
interesting story to read
ReplyDeleteSo the Liv and Abby plot thickens! As always, there's got to be more than meets the eye with this one. As a silver lining, at least Liv's intolerance is forcing Abby and Andie to think about the future. It sounds like Abby's good for Andie. Although, everyone deserves a Dr. Pepper once in a while! 💖🤎🥤💖🤎🥤
ReplyDeleteUy parece que se complica las cosas entre Liv y a Abby. genial fragmento. Te mando un beso.
