Cam said he could take care of it. No one had to do a thing. But Caitlin shook her head no. It might have been Christmas but it was on hold at the moment.
"You can't keep doing this," she sighed about the Carmen situation that had happened a few days ago when her Dad got drunk and set their house on fire.
No way could Cam let Carmen and her nephew stay in some home. Although, Caitlin had a point he wasn't foster care. Still, they were at his house at the moment. He made a call to see if anyone could help.
He knew it was Christmas. Maybe they could stay the night if nothing else.
"You know, how well it worked out with Rico and Liv. They were together twenty-four seven," Caitlin practically snapped.
Cam sighed. Couldn't they be enjoying Christmas? Kenny was eating popcorn and watching Home Alone in the livingroom. Cam really did want to give them a Christmas, but all three were pretty much couch potatoes at the moment.
It wasn't long until Tristan's mother Pat showed up. She brought some paperwork and showed it to Caitlin.
"Once upon a time I thought I would make a good Foster caregiver," She looked sad about it. "I know it's outdated. But things fell apart at home back then..and if there's a chance Carmen and Kenny can stay at our house."
The kitchen was the smell of fresh coffee and biscuits in the oven. Caitlin, smiled. She said there was a shortage right now and she was sure she could get this situated. She made a few phone calls to see what she could do.
"I'm glad you called me," she said to Cam, but there were tears in her eyes.
Cam knew his friend needed something to keep her busy since her kids were on their own now. It didn't mean her house had to be empty.

So hard time...

ReplyDeleteLovely chapter! Is there anything better than the smell of fresh coffee?
ReplyDeletePerhaps the smell of fresh coffee and biscuits?
Oh, this sentence: " . . . she sighed about the Carmen situation that had happened a few days ago when her Dad got drunk and set their house on fire."
ReplyDeleteOne of the things that amazes me about Caitlin is how she can sometimes (okay, a lot of times) be immature in her personal life but so savvy on the job -- a job, by the way, that's really important. As they say, it shows her range. Anyway, I hope everything turns out okay. 😀😮😀😮
