It felt as if he might be sticking around for good now. Although, he knew Justin found him quite annoying, but Jared did pay his share of the rent.
"So you're not moving in with Jewel?" Justin sounded as if it were a done deal.
"I think it's best right now just to keep things the way they are," he knew Jewel didn't need anymore changes in her life. She needed to focus on her and the baby, and he would focus on work and studying. Still this left a lot of time cooking together. Besides, he wasn't certain if they were on or off. Oh, she came off in the beginning he'd be her lover or some such nonsense, but he could see her priorities and he was in no hurry for anything major. Just being friends was enough. Although, he had a feeling Justin didn't believe him.
It felt to Jared that Justin had his own worries.
"You've got classes to worry about," Jared reminded him if he stuck with the program he'd be an X-ray technician soon. "Have you forgot that?"
Justin wouldn't talk about it.
"You are still taking the classes aren't you?" Jared stared him down.
Their mom was so proud of him. Didn't Justin know he was their pride and joy, but something about fame and fortune was taking a toll on him. He could see it. Jared thought it might be making him sick.
"Well, I didn't do all that good in the last class," Justin said he needed to take it over.
"It's a curse, you know," Jared laughed it off, "We're just too good-looking for our own good."
Justin didn't find it to be a laugh.
"You got a lovely lass who brings you whatever you need," Jared shrugged back. Saying that, he did doubt Justin was her equal because Jared was certain she could find someone so much better, but wouldn't say it, and he certainly wasn't going to pry them apart. So he changed the subject, hugged himself in thought, and was there at the kitchen table as Justin was getting supper ready. The chili simmered on the stove, and the rice was almost done.
"Say, I noticed, this dude, I thought worked at Goodwill is now at the Uni."
"What about it?" Justin swelled a frown as if it meant nothing to him.
"I thought he was a co-worker of Randy's, but maybe not," Jared told him he'd seen him hanging around Vada lately. "You know, not sure if he's all there. I don't know if I should say something to her."
"I wouldn't worry about it."
It sounded like such a final answer, but Jared couldn't. What if she didn't know what she was getting into? Sure, she was supposed to be with Kevin, but that girl liked to flirt. Jared thought this guy might be her biggest fan. Or stalker.
Estou realmente gostando de ler suas histórias.

Everybody has their own battle to fight...the high expectation from Justin's parents must have given Justin a lot of pressure and troubled him.
ReplyDeleteInteresting.
ReplyDeleteHer biggest fan or her stalker? Let's hope for the first.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how Justin feels about it.

ReplyDeleteJared cares deeply about the people around him. He is very attentive and has a high level of sensitivity.
Jared is really worried. Let's hope there is no reason for it.
ReplyDeleteSuch a captivating look into Jared’s thoughts and relationships! I love the way you’re building up the tension, especially with Jared’s concern for Vada and Justin. The balance between humor and serious undertones gives it a nice depth. I'm really intrigued to see how things will unfold with that guy at the Uni and what choices Jared will make. Great work.
