Right back where we started from

January was so glum. The cold was brutal and the snow... just gray these days. The story of his life, Dylan imagined.

If only he could move on and not think what he'd lost with Tori. Sure he was banking on a dream he'd believed in as if it might be their past instead of his imagination.

But he shook the thought to get involved with Caitlin. It bothered him to see her so much. It was as if he was stuck in some sort of tango that went nowhere.

Honestly, it felt as if his future was going nowhere, either. He knew he was lucky to have the job at the coffee shop even with such a wacky owner who supposedly managed the place. Although, he found himself doing more management these days.

Caitlin didn't seem to notice. She was practically carefree and possibly happy that nothing was going on between him and Tori.

Still, he texted Tori daily, and if not her he got the lowdown from Megan. Truth be told if he had a best friend in anyone it was Megan. He doubted Caitlin wanted what was best for him. It was Megan who nudged him along to take every opportunity he could get. Maybe that was why he was helping Maisey out so much so she had more time with her life with Tommy.

Naturally, it was annoying listening to his boss talk about her romance. Why did she feel the need to give him every detail about her boyfriend?

And then it happened one day after he was getting off work. He'd been offered a job on site. He'd get paid and get his electrician license too.

Of course, he got big fat NOs through text from both Caitlin and Tori. They didn't like the idea at all. While he got BE THE MAN text from Megan. She was the only one who had any faith in him.

Besides, Tori had Frankie in her life now and he was possibly the only one wooing her into his future which meant he had his own condo, a decent place to work. Things Dylan could only wish for.

"Look, there's a pandemic going on," Caitlin called him. "What are you thinking? Don't you know working at the coffee shop is a much safer place to be?"

"Is it?" Dylan shot back as he was making his way home. "What about you? Will you still be stuck there when your thirty, or even forty." He reminded her she had an internship to get to. Wasn't she planning to help the world as a social worker? "Or is that asking too much of you?"

She was quiet then and he hung up. He'd been working with electricity since stage work during high school. Dylan knew he needed skills. Yes, he loved art, but would it pay the bills?

  3. An important question: do what you like or receive money. Perfect would be to combine the two.

  4. Dylan is a unique character. I am glad to see he wants to better himself in so many ways. Maybe he will be the man he wants to be. Sooner than he thinks!
