"Deano?" Megan squinted hard, "What kind of name is that?" She couldn't believe Caitlin, but at least she called. Megan had been waiting for days to hear from her.
Naturally, Cori looked a little alarmed from the kitchen sink where he was washing dishes when he heard Megan say Deano's name.
"Well, when are you coming home?" Megan wanted to know and Caitlin said she wasn't sure.
"He hasn't kicked me out yet," Caitlin told her. "We're fine. He made me an omelet and his bacon is amazingly crispy."
"Oh." Megan wasn't sure what to come back with.
"Of course, he's no Cori," Caitlin told her. "We can't all have a Cori, but he's pretty damn sweet."
Megan was a little steamed. She would hang up if Caitlin said anything about what they did in bed.
"Fine, stay there for all I care. Maybe we'll rent your room," Megan snapped. She knew they shouldn't be in a tiff, but it was unnerving that Caitlin could hook up with a stranger.
"Who is he?" Megan wanted to know as soon as she clicked off from Caitlin.
"Who?" Cori's eyes looked a little bug-eyed.
"Who do you think?" Megan looked at him perturbed. "Weren't you listening? Did you know she was going to go off with this guy?"
He shook his head, no. He said he thought she was going to Melvin's and he told her she'd be an idiot if she went there.
"Well, she is an idiot," Megan sighed with her fist on her waist as if this was just getting ridiculous. "What is wrong with her?"
"He started a few weeks ago," Cori then said about Deano. "I don't think he's a Freshman."
Megan shook her head and then shrug. "Well, maybe he's perfect for her, but she might not be perfect for him."
"Don't even go there," Cori said it wasn't their place to get involved. "If it works out, great." but then he said he doubted it.

Thanks! I won't deny it my favorite line was Caitlin saying, "We can't all have a Cori, but he's pretty damn sweet."
DeletePerhaps its actually an inside joke. A friend's boyfriend is Cory and well..he is the best. Nobody can top Cory. And maybe you have noticed that in your circle of friends too. Always comparing her boyfriend to who every you might be seeing.
Maybe he’s not meant to be together for today but meant to be in the future. Who knows, the boy needs a chance.
