What's a roommate to do

 "What the hell did you say to her?" Megan was livid on the phone with Dylan. "She's can't stop crying."

She paced her bedroom and she knew Cori wished she wouldn't have called Dylan, but somebody had too.

"Here she is, waiting forever to find out if she has COVID and you..you say something that left her absolutely devasted," Megan yelled into the phone.

"Maybe..maybe I had too much to drink," Dylan said.

"You don't drink!" She corrected him. "What is wrong with you?" She was not in a good mood. There was no way to console Tori.

"I'm-I'm just a little worried about her, OK?" Dylan shot back. "Can I be worried about her?"

"She is scared out of her wits, and she won't even tell me what it's about?" Megan wanted to know exactly what he said.

"I-I might have been a little mental. I mean, I'm still at the coffee shop. Caitlin's being a no show. And I have to go to this boring class. If..if it's not this I have to follow this old fart around and all I see is his stupid butt crack. I'm sorry!" Dylan said. "OK!"

"Don't tell me, tell her," Megan said. And she hung up.

"Satisfied?" Cori was in his tee and flannels stretched across the bed with his elbows holding him up. It was past their bedtime.

"Maybe." She bounced down next to him. "I am really scared for her, you know."

He nodded. He said work was slow. Too slow. It gave him too much time to think about what was really going on. He mentioned somebody at work who had grandparents with COVID and they'd come to visit him. "I told him not to come back to work for the next couple of weeks. All I have is Deano to rely on."

"And will I ever get to meet this Deano?" Megan edged in and hugged Cori.

"I guess. Why not? Surely, Caitlin will show up with him." He sighed and brushed her long bangs from her eyes so he could see her face.

"God, I hope Tori is OK. I hope Melvin is OK too." They had not heard anything. Tori was still waiting for her test results. Megan hugged him closer and kissed his mouth as if she was certain they needed as much time together as they could get.
