"Who is he exactly?" Hope winced thinking she'd spent more time awake than she meant to. Frankie was downright exhausting. So many questions. She just wasn't sure she should have told him so much in the four hours he was here. Of course, he'd made her breakfast and helped with the laundry. Didn't he have anything better to do?
"That's who Tori is supposed to be with," Megan filled in the blank as she was eating the leftovers that Frankie created. She commented that he was a pretty good cook. She sounded as if Hope should take as much advantage of him as she could. "He was so sweet on Tori it was almost nauseous."
Hope got that impression, but she knew he must be down and out with Tori choosing someone else over him, but he wouldn't dare let it show.
Hope looked at her phone then. There was a text about her medical appointment. She knew Megan would be in a fret if she didn't take it.
"Fuckaroni," she tried her best not to speak too loud.
"That is so funny, you coming up with something like that. Yeap, a preschool teacher through and through," Megan smiled as she went to wash the dishes.
Hope let out a sigh. It was true her list of potty mouth words were growing. She just couldn't help it. She hated everything these days. She frowned then, wondering what to do. Of course, Frankie gave her his phone number. She hated to take advantage of him, but she certainly didn't want to take an Uber ride and of course, it was snowing again.
After all, he was a stranger, but he didn't waste time making her feel bad about anything. He'd been encouraging and wanted her to be creative. He talked of Tori and all her crochet and yet he was certain she never finished many of her projects, but that was OK in his book. She supposed he was OK with her, too.
She went to her contacts and rang him up.
"I doubt you have time," she said in a voice mail. "But I have a doctor's appointment on Saturday."
He texted right back and asked the time. She told him and of course, he said he would be happy too.
And now we hear Hope's side of things! I can see how she'd find Frankie irksome, even knowing what I know about his struggles. Her creative spin on the F-bomb and Megan's quip about her being a preschool teacher are funny. It's interesting how Hope and Frankie come together in the end, though. It shows that even when people are annoying, we all need each other.
