"Why didn't you tell Frankie? He didn't know you moved in with Dylan?" Megan's words made Tori want to completely shut down. As it was, she hadn't stepped foot out of Dylan's. Besides, she needed to be alone with Dylan. Other things were on her mind. Actually, one thing in particular and she didn't want anyone to know.
"He was here," Megan went on to say. "Hope had to tell him. She's moved into your old room."
Tori only nodded. She couldn't put words into sentences.
"Hello? Tori, are you still there?"
Maybe she wasn't. Maybe she needed to be tied up in a straight jacket and put away. She was a nervous wreck. How could something living inside her still be content?
"I'm sorry." Tori knew she should be sorry. She was very sorry. "I should have told him, but..but we have been kind of busy and you know, I just want to stay home. We. We are fine."
"OK," Megan told her she could understand why she wouldn't want to talk to Frankie, but he would want to know.
"You..you are so right." Suddenly Tori felt she was developing the right personality to be receptive to whatever Megan said. Perhaps she should start thinking just like Megan and her problem would be solved. She didn't want to think how stupid she actually was that day she went out Christmas shopping with Melvin.
Why didn't she know? Why hadn't she been awake during that encounter? Why would she forget something so tainted?
"I promise I'll call him." At least it was what Megan wanted to hear but as soon as she got off the phone with her. Tori shook her head. No way did she want to call him. She couldn't.
"What happened?" Dylan wanted to know when he got home. He'd picked up some fresh fruit and peeled her a tangerine as soon as he washed up.
"Oh, nothing, really." She nodded remembering the worst had happened. "Megan called. I forgot to tell Frankie about the move."
He nodded as if that was very old news.
"I know you don't like him, but he's a very sweet person," she looked at Dylan that he shouldn't be jealous.
"Right." He didn't discuss Frankie. He went to see if he could make her pasta and a salad.
She sighed feeling like a beached whale already and she wasn't even showing. Yet she felt her stomach was solid and certainly not shrinking. At least she was still working from home, and March felt as if it were warming up. She should at least go outside. Although, it felt best to be inside.
"You need to decide," Dylan finally said.
She nodded. She did have a doctor's appointment. As much as this mystery was so horrifying that left her awake from time to time, there was also this miracle that had happened too.
She took his hand before he could go back to the pasta. "I want to have this baby with you." But her frown was small. It was too hard to smile. After all, there were weeks to go before the arrival and each day felt painfully long at the moment, but there was time.

ReplyDeletePobre Tori le toca madurar y seguir. Te mando un beso
ReplyDeleteTalk about your internal struggles. I've never been pregnant, so I can't imagine what Tori's going through. It must be incredibly hard to decide what to do with so many people's viewpoints weighing on you. I love that Dylan's cooking for her and being so supportive.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Have a nice week ^_^

ReplyDeleteDifficult decission ❤
ReplyDeleteTori must feel conflicted about her emotions- her situation is complicated, but I think she is also happy because she is creating life within herself. <3 It's always a miracle.
