Where the day leads

 Frankie intended to tell Hope about the opening at the Yoga studio. They were looking for pregnant women as yoga extras. But she was very solemn about her appointment and when they got to the place at the hospital, he noticed Tori going into the same office that Hope was going to.

Of course, he was curious, but he thought he might freak Tori out and that might make things worse.

What was going on? 

He told Hope he had something to do so he went back out into the cold and took a walk and called Megan.

"I think something has happened to Tori," he said.

"Something?" Megan sounded as if she didn't have time to play twenty questions with him.

"I just dropped Hope off at the doctor's office," he told her he saw Tori going to the same doctor.

Megan told him it was best they didn't know anything. "If she wants to tell us, she will."

"Right," but it made him all the sadder. He felt as if he might be sinking into an ocean of emotion. It was hopeless to keep these unrequited feelings. He hated it. And now he had to stay more oblivious than ever. It didn't matter how much he called her or texted, she was not going to answer.

Of course, he was afraid to go back. He might see her. Warm tears emerged in the cold. Thank god, he still had his mask on.

"What happened?" Hope asked later when she found him in the outside lobby.

"I took a walk," he mentioned March wasn't all that warm after all. Maybe April would be better. 

She didn't say anything about her appointment. They went back to his car. 

"Oh, I don't know if you even like yoga, but you could get some part-time work at the studio, where I work." He finally mentioned when he started up the car.

"I used to," she said she almost became a certified yoga instructor. "But, I don't know." She smiled. He could tell she might like the idea from the smile that surfaced.

"Let's go there," he smiled back. He would show her around. Most of the classes were online now. He said he would treat her to lunch. Frankie did his best not to think of Tori.
