Sometimes you just need to go on

 

"You talk too much," Cori gave Megan the eye. He knew what she would do even if she told Frankie to keep it a secret, and before she could even look at Cori there in the kitchen while he was trying to clean out the fridge (because no one else would do it these days) Megan was on the phone with Caitlin about what she knew now of Tori.

Cori rolled his eyes, why was she like this? Everybody's best friend except she knew everything about everyone. 

"Just..just don't say anything. Don't let on that you know, OK?" Megan said before she got off her Android. 

"Why did you do that? Why can't you leave it alone? We aren't supposed to know what's going on with Dylan and Tori." He tossed a bad lime in the trash along with a bag of celery Megan had to have but never ate. Even the baby carrots were drying up. He plopped them in the crockpot with the roast that was stewing.

Besides, he was worried about Melvin. No news yet. He was still in the ICU on oxygen. The thought made his throat itchy and stressed as if it could happen to him yet. But he was keeping the pizzeria going and both Caitlin and Deano were working extra along with a few others.

"What did I do?" Oh her doe-like eyes got him every time and he put his arms around her as if he knew he couldn't change a thing about her.

"Remember, we have someone looking at Caitlin's room later," He kissed her forehead and took another look in the fridge to see what he could throw out before taking the trash downstairs.

"Who?" Naturally, she'd forgotten between schoolwork and talking to her small circle of friends, as well as getting the vaccine since she was an educator. 

"Some guy who just started at the coffee shop," It felt to Cori, he was handling a lot of obligations Megan used to take so seriously.

She made a face that she didn't like the idea of another guy living here. Cori only shrugged. "Well, it's not Wade." 

Cori didn't think Wade had a proper job of any kind, but he still had a way of always paying for whatever he needed. Although, that might have been Melvin's money. Cori couldn't help but think that Melvin owed Wade something, but he wasn't sure what it could be. 

"What's his name?" She asked about the new roommate.

"Kyle." Cori couldn't think of anything else to say. He had no idea who he really was. Nothing he could Google, but Caitlin said he was always on time and he knew a lot about roasting coffee beans.

Of course, Megan had never heard of him.
